National Conference (NC) leader and MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi expressed his support for agitating students regarding the reservation issue, stating that he will join their protests if the government fails to engage with the students. He emphasized the importance of authorities communicating with students about decision-making processes and the status of pending decisions without breaching confidentiality.
Ruhullah Mehdi highlighted his concern over delays and repeated notifications causing disappointment among students. He urged the government to show empathy towards the students and engage in dialogue to address their grievances before his stated deadline of December 27, failing which he would participate in the students’ protest on job reservations.
Stressing the need for authorities to demonstrate sympathy towards students, Ruhullah Mehdi emphasized the importance of informing students about the progress of decision-making and steps taken. He affirmed his readiness to support the students and stated that he would align his protest location with the students’ choice.
Ruhullah Mehdi condemned lynching incidents in Bangladesh and India, labeling them as acts of terrorism regardless of religion or location. He reiterated his stance on reservations, which has led to disagreements with J&K CM Omar Abdullah, who emphasized the need for constitutional issues like reservations to be addressed through proper channels rather than street protests.
