Jammu’s National Conference (NC) MLA and spokesperson, Tanvir Sadiq, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for impeding the progress and development of Jammu and Kashmir. Sadiq alleged that the BJP’s policies have negatively impacted the region’s political, social, and developmental interests. He emphasized that instead of prioritizing development and stability, the BJP’s actions have led to uncertainty and institutional weakening in the area.
Speaking to the media, Sadiq highlighted that the BJP’s approach has disrupted rather than fostered development in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed concerns that the party’s political strategies have harmed the region’s democratic framework in the long run. Additionally, Sadiq criticized the BJP’s Leader of the Opposition, Sunil Kumar Sharma, for lacking an understanding of the ground realities and challenges faced by the people in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Sadiq, irresponsible political rhetoric diverts attention from crucial public issues and hampers efforts to address genuine concerns. The ongoing discord between the NC and the BJP dates back to the tenure of the Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir since October 2024. The NC has been advocating for the restoration of statehood, citing the limited powers of the elected government in the Union Territory.
