As the counting progresses for the Baramati Assembly constituency, Sunetra Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, is currently in the lead with 44,796 votes according to the Election Commission of India trends at 11 a.m. She dedicated her success to her late husband, Ajit Pawar, urging party members to refrain from celebratory activities. Sunetra Pawar expressed gratitude to the voters and emphasized that this victory marks just the beginning of her journey.

The Baramati Assembly seat, left vacant after the untimely demise of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is witnessing a closely watched by-election. Despite facing 22 competitors, Sunetra Pawar has maintained a strong position since the initial rounds of counting. The by-elections held in multiple states including Maharashtra have attracted significant attention due to the sudden vacancies caused by the passing of incumbent MLAs.

The Baramati constituency in Pune district, known for its association with the influential Pawar family, has become a focal point of political interest. Following Ajit Pawar’s tragic death in a plane crash, his wife Sunetra Pawar’s candidacy has made this by-election a high-profile event. With 3.84 lakh registered voters, the constituency has witnessed a keenly contested election involving 23 candidates, with Sunetra Pawar emerging as the prominent contender to uphold the Pawar legacy in the state Assembly.
