The National Commission for Women (NCW) conducted a two-day ‘Shakti Samvaad’ program in Srinagar over the weekend. The event brought together Chairpersons, members, and member secretaries of State Women Commissions to enhance coordination for women’s empowerment. Representatives from 20 states participated, focusing on strengthening institutional coordination and capacity building for women’s welfare.
NCW Chief Vijaya Rahatkar, at the inaugural session, emphasized the need for creating a responsive ecosystem beyond policies. She highlighted the importance of NCW being a trusted platform for grievance redressal and support, ensuring justice and dignity for every woman. ‘Shakti Samvaad’ symbolizes India’s collective resolve towards women’s empowerment, fostering idea exchange and strength transformation.
Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, commended the progress and leadership of women in Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed the role of women in shaping a ‘Developed India by 2047’ and the need for coordinated institutional efforts for women-led development. Singh also highlighted the transformative power of science and technology in improving women’s lives through enhanced access to education, healthcare, and digital opportunities.
Experts and participants engaged in discussions on evolving legal frameworks, workplace dignity, and institutional responses to challenges faced by women nationwide. The program aimed to enhance dialogue and coordination for advancing women’s rights and opportunities across various sectors.
