The National Commission for Women (NCW) will hold ‘Shakti Samvaad’, an interactive session with State Women’s Commissions (SWCs) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, starting Thursday. The two-day event aims to enhance institutional coordination, share best practices, and build the capacities of SWCs. This initiative marks the third national-level ‘Shakti Samvaad’ in a year, following successful editions in Ayodhya and Mumbai, showcasing NCW’s commitment to cooperative federalism in women’s rights.
The meeting will gather State Women’s Commissions from across the country, fostering a pan-India dialogue. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will inaugurate the event, which will also include the release of the book ‘Safarnama’ by NCW and a prize distribution ceremony for the online poster-making competition on ‘Stay Safe Online’. Discussions during the session will focus on improving complaint handling mechanisms, refining management information systems, examining state-specific legislation, and enhancing collaboration between NCW and SWCs in legislative matters.
The event also aims to advance the national initiative of ‘Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat’, develop a strategic plan for district-level Jan Sunwai nationwide, and share innovative practices implemented by State Women Commissions. NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasized that ‘Shakti Samvaad’ is more than just a meeting; it represents a shared commitment towards seamless coordination, faster responses, and grounded solutions. Continuous dialogue between State Women Commissions and NCW is crucial to ensure effective implementation of women-centric laws, services, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
The two-day engagement is anticipated to yield actionable outcomes and strengthen institutional collaboration, further promoting the rights, safety, and dignity of women nationwide.
