On Mother’s Day, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal participated in a plantation drive at Ashirwad Old Age Home, Kali Bari Marg. The event, named #EkPedMaaKeNaam_OnSunday, aimed to connect environmental protection with social sensitivity. During the drive, saplings were planted alongside senior citizens residing at the old age home, emphasizing respect for motherhood, nature, and family values.
The initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, encourages citizens to plant trees in their mother’s name. This campaign seeks to link environmental conservation with public engagement, fostering a sense of responsibility and gratitude towards both “Mother” and “Mother Nature.” Chahal highlighted that the drive is not just about planting trees but signifies a broader movement of emotional and social responsibility. By planting trees, individuals contribute to a secure future for generations while honoring mothers and nature.
Ashirwad Old Age Home, managed by the Samaj Kalyan Samiti under NDMC, was established in 2016 at Kali Bari Marg. The facility, accommodating 60 senior citizens, currently hosts 59 residents, providing them with essential amenities like meals, healthcare, recreation, and security. The home ensures a dignified and caring environment for the elderly, promoting their well-being and comfort.
Chahal, during the event, also inspected the old age home and commended the efforts of various departments responsible for its operations. He addressed raised concerns and repair needs, instructing officials to promptly address all issues. Additionally, Chahal shared a meal with the senior citizens, fostering interactions and camaraderie. The residents expressed appreciation for the program organized by NDMC and extended warm Mother’s Day wishes and blessings to PM Modi.
