A day after securing fourth place in the Wanda Diamond League event in Doha, Neeraj Chopra, India’s renowned javelin thrower, expressed contentment with his performance. Speaking at the Indian Athletics Awards in New Delhi, Chopra shared his joy at meeting the qualification mark for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Chopra, who recently returned from an injury, expressed satisfaction with his performance, marking it as his first competition of the year. Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of developing momentum and refining his javelin techniques for the upcoming events in the season.
During the Diamond League event in Doha, Chopra achieved a best throw of 85.69 meters, securing the fourth position. He trailed behind Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage from Sri Lanka, Anderson Peters from Granada, and Curtis Thompson from the United States, who clinched the top spots.
Additionally, Chopra commended the Athletics Federation of India for recognizing the contributions of athletes, coaches, mentors, and administrators in the Indian Athletics Awards ceremony. He expressed his delight in meeting both veteran athletes and emerging talents, highlighting the significance of such acknowledgments in the sports community.
