The investigation into the NEET question paper leak has expanded to Kerala, with the CBI looking into the potential involvement of students from two districts. Suspicions arise from a ‘model question paper’ believed to have been created from the leaked NEET paper and distributed among students in Kerala before the exam. The Rajasthan Police shared information on nearly 200 students who accessed the leaked paper, including those with ties to Kerala.
Officials are investigating a medical student from Churu, Rajasthan, studying in Kerala, suspected to have played a crucial role in circulating the leaked paper among aspirants. The CBI has broadened its inquiry to 10 states, forming a special team with four squads to uncover the network behind the significant entrance exam fraud. Initial findings indicate that the leak did not occur during paper transportation but originated from the printing press in Nashik, Maharashtra, where this year’s NEET paper was printed.
Investigators allege that a student named Shubham Karniyar obtained the original paper from the press and passed it through intermediaries in Haryana before reaching the masterminds in Sikar. The leaked paper was reportedly altered into a “model question paper” to evade detection and distributed through networks in various states, including Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar. The model paper closely matched the actual exam paper in Biology and Chemistry questions, indicating a well-organized interstate examination racket.
