Nepal’s Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma embarked on a five-day official visit to India at the invitation of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The visit aims to enhance judicial relations between the two neighboring countries. During his stay, Sharma is set to visit the Supreme Court of India and is expected to return to Nepal on July 27.
The delegation accompanying Chief Justice Sharma includes his spouse, Uma Sharma, and Joint Registrar Amit Upreti. The purpose of the visit, as stated by the Supreme Court, is to bolster the judicial connections between Nepal and India. No specific details regarding bilateral meetings have been disclosed for the trip.
Regular exchanges between the chief justices and judiciaries of Nepal and India have become a common practice in recent times. Last year, Nepal’s former Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut visited New Delhi for the swearing-in ceremony of India’s current Chief Justice, Surya Kant. Such interactions have been instrumental in fostering collaboration and understanding between the legal systems of the two countries.
