New Delhi Municipal Council’s Vice Chairperson, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, has laid the foundation stone for a Rs 1.21 crore project aimed at enhancing the Middle Lane in Khan Market. This initiative is part of NDMC’s focus on developing and modernizing key markets, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s progress.
Chahal highlighted the significance of revamping iconic commercial hubs like Khan Market to support the vision of a developed India, Delhi, and NDMC. The project, titled “Upgradation and Improvement of Environs of Khan Market (Phase-II),” involves comprehensive enhancements such as a new drainage system, modern flooring, and upgraded pavement in the Middle Lane.
Under this project, the Middle Lane will undergo a transformation with granite flooring and integrated service ducts for civil and electrical utilities. Scheduled for completion by April 2026, the initiative also includes the creation of a traffic-free zone, improved parking facilities, and better traffic management to elevate Khan Market’s global appeal.
Appreciating the collaboration of the Khan Market Traders’ Association and NDMC’s engineering team, Chahal emphasized the collective efforts towards setting new standards in cleanliness, infrastructure, and urban development at Khan Market. The project aims to not only enhance convenience for visitors, traders, and residents but also to give the market a refreshed and contemporary look.
