Thousands of enthusiastic supporters welcomed the new government led by V.D. Satheesan in Kerala despite heavy rain. Following the swearing-in ceremony, Satheesan and his 21-member cabinet attended a tea hosted by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhavan. As the ministers prepared for their first cabinet meeting at the State Secretariat, heavy rain poured over the capital city, but the inclement weather did not deter the cheering crowd outside.
Dark clouds loomed as the new ministers headed to the State Secretariat, but the rain only seemed to invigorate the waiting supporters. Chants of “Satheesan” and welcoming slogans for the Congress-led UDF government resonated amidst the downpour. The crowd, including pro-UDF Secretariat employees, party workers, and ordinary supporters, eagerly awaited the historic moment despite the challenging weather conditions.
Security personnel faced challenges managing the growing crowd as ministers entered the Secretariat premises. Satheesan officially took charge in the Chief Minister’s office by signing initial files symbolizing the transfer of power. Subsequently, his cabinet colleagues gathered in the adjacent cabinet meeting hall, with Satheesan presiding over the first cabinet meeting, setting the tone for the new government’s governance.
Expectations are high for significant policy announcements and welfare measures following the maiden cabinet meeting, with a focus on positively impacting the lives of the people in Kerala. Satheesan is set to address the media post the meeting, outlining the government’s immediate priorities and future direction.
