Newly-appointed West Bengal Minister and BJP legislator Agnimitra Paul stated that the BJP government’s formation in the state fulfilled Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s vision. She emphasized that the state was rescued from becoming “Western Bangladesh” as Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as Chief Minister of the first BJP-led government in West Bengal.
Paul, along with other ministers like Dilip Ghosh and Nisith Pramanik, highlighted the struggles faced by BJP workers in the state. She expressed disbelief at the challenges endured, including police cases, harassment, and violence, while questioning the reality of the government’s existence.
Reflecting on Mookerjee’s legacy, Paul credited him for preventing Bengal from turning into Bangladesh. She criticized the previous government for alleged appeasement politics and praised the BJP for upholding Mookerjee’s ideals, preventing the Islamization of Bengal.
The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant political transition in West Bengal, with the BJP assuming power in the state for the first time.
