New Zealand’s Trade and Investment Minister, Todd McClay, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as “calm and responsible” during an interview. He highlighted the significance of PM Modi’s upcoming visit to New Zealand, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 40 years, following the signing of a Free Trade Agreement. The Indian community in New Zealand is eagerly anticipating PM Modi’s arrival in Auckland.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Auckland for a two-day official visit at the invitation of New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon. McClay expressed admiration for PM Modi’s leadership qualities, emphasizing his likability and trustworthiness. The visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship, particularly in trade, commerce, and defense, which has made significant progress in recent years.
During his stay, PM Modi will engage in discussions with PM Luxon, meet with business and sports figures, and address the Indian diaspora in New Zealand. This visit follows PM Luxon’s trip to India in March 2025, where he held talks with PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
