Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has instructed officials to ensure thorough monsoon readiness for National Highway projects to minimize weather-related disruptions. The directive was issued during review meetings in New Delhi, focusing on projects in Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, covering a total of 7,770 km. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways conducted these reviews based on various feedback sources, including media reports and inputs from relevant authorities.
Gadkari, during the meetings, evaluated the progress and maintenance of ongoing National Highway projects. He stressed the importance of maintaining high-quality standards and accountability while expediting project implementation. The minister also emphasized the adoption of advanced construction technologies and best practices to enhance the durability and performance of highway infrastructure.
The minister highlighted the significance of preparedness during the monsoon season, directing officials to focus on effective drainage management, slope stabilization, and rapid-response systems to tackle weather-related disruptions. These measures are crucial for ensuring continuous connectivity, road safety, and the resilience of the National Highway network. Gadkari also underlined the role of well-maintained road infrastructure in boosting regional connectivity, supporting economic growth, and enhancing commuter convenience.
