In a surprising move in Bihar politics, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared his intention to contest for the Rajya Sabha. Union Minister Giriraj Singh responded by stating that Kumar’s decision was voluntary, not coerced. Singh criticized the Opposition for their changing stance on the matter, accusing them of hypocrisy.

Giriraj Singh, in an interview, emphasized that Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha was entirely his choice. He highlighted that the Chief Minister had expressed this desire years ago and that the government would continue under his guidance. Singh also pointed out the Opposition’s past doubts about Kumar’s health, contrasting it with their current reactions.

Nitish Kumar, through a social media post, thanked the people of Bihar for their trust and support over the years. He expressed his gratitude for their backing, which he credited for Bihar’s progress and increased national recognition. Kumar affirmed his commitment to the state’s development and announced his decision to contest the Rajya Sabha election.

The announcement has stirred significant political activity in Bihar, with reports of dissent within the Janata Dal(United) ranks emerging. Security has been heightened around the Chief Minister’s residence in response to the escalating political situation. Supporters gathered outside his home, expressing solidarity with Nitish Kumar and affirming their endorsement of his leadership.
