Northeast Frontier Railway’s General Manager, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, inspected the ongoing electrification works in the Araria-Galgalia section of Bihar. The aim is to enhance operational efficiency, enable seamless electric train operations, and promote energy-efficient railway infrastructure. Shrivastava also oversaw redevelopment and infrastructure projects at New Jalpaiguri railway station in West Bengal.
During the inspection, Shrivastava inaugurated a new Boot Laundry facility at Rautara under Katihar Division to improve maintenance and cleaning arrangements for railway staff equipment. He also participated in a plantation drive, emphasizing NFR’s commitment to environmental sustainability and green initiatives.
The General Manager conducted a Window Trailing Inspection to assess track conditions, signalling systems, bridges, level crossing gates, and passenger amenities along the Araria-Galgalia section. At New Jalpaiguri, he inspected the ongoing station redevelopment works under the World Class Station project, aiming to transform NJP into a modern station with enhanced facilities and improved passenger amenities.
Shrivastava reviewed redevelopment initiatives under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to create a modern travel hub. He stressed the importance of timely project completion while upholding quality, safety, and operational excellence standards. The NFR operates in the Northeastern states, seven districts of West Bengal, and five districts of north Bihar.
