A wanted criminal, Bhanu Pratap Singh, also known as Bablu, was fatally shot in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Ayodhya. The STF tracked him down near the Aimi Ghat bridge in Ayodhya while he was trying to escape on a motorcycle. Singh fired at the STF team, leading to a confrontation where he sustained severe injuries.
Following the encounter, Singh was taken to a hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his wounds. He was facing about 40 criminal cases in various districts of Uttar Pradesh and had been evading authorities for a considerable period. Different police units had announced rewards for his capture, with amounts ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
In a separate incident, the police and Special Operations Group (SOG) in Sitapur apprehended two alleged thieves, Yogendra Chauhan and Dharmraj, recovering stolen property worth around Rs 77 lakh, including luxury vehicles. Yogendra, a repeat offender, confessed to multiple thefts, including a recent burglary in Albada village. The duo was caught en route to Lucknow to sell the stolen goods.
