The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and Jharkhand State Rifle Association completed a seven-day National Coaches Course, focusing on enhancing grassroots coaching and establishing a scientific approach to shooting sports in India. The program involved 33 coaches from five states, with a significant representation from Jharkhand.
The course provided a comprehensive training regimen combining technical expertise, sports science, coaching methods, and practical skills. Led by Olympian Sanjeev Rajput and Vidya Jadav, the sessions covered weapon handling, shooting techniques, error correction, and competition readiness, drawing from top-level experience and international standards.
Incorporating Sports Science, the program featured expert-led sessions to equip coaches with tools for enhancing athlete performance. Topics included sports psychology for mental well-being, nutrition strategies, strength and conditioning, human anatomy in relation to shooting performance, and communication skills to foster positive coach-athlete relationships.
The course concluded with an exam to assess participants’ comprehension, followed by a practical field project working with athletes. The next phase will occur in Jamshedpur, where coaches will present their work, aiming to receive an official NRAI certificate upon completing both stages. JSRA president Diwakar Singh highlighted the importance of these sessions in elevating coaching standards in Jharkhand.
