A nun, Sister Ranit, has come forward to reveal the challenges she faced after reporting alleged sexual abuse by a Bishop. She described feeling isolated and intimidated, enduring social ostracism and uncertainty even years after lodging the complaint.
Following the abuse allegation, Sister Ranit recounted being immediately isolated within the Church. She claimed that three nuns, including herself, were subjected to sustained harassment, leading to three nuns leaving the congregation due to intimidation like stone-pelting.
Surviving by doing tailoring work at the convent, Sister Ranit blamed the diocese leadership’s silence for their plight. She accused Bishop Franco of trying to implicate her family and fellow nuns in false cases, with some nuns within the convent supporting him.
Sister Ranit refuted claims that the complaint was financially motivated, stating she had not received any money from the diocese or Bishop Franco. She explained that fear of expulsion from the congregation due to societal stigma kept her silent for years despite the abuse.
