The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved 13 key proposals across various departments. These include initiatives in Rural Development, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Cooperation, and Revenue and Disaster Management. Chief Secretary Anu Garg highlighted that the focus is on enhancing rural infrastructure through schemes like the Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana (MMSY) and other rural development projects. The extension of these schemes for the next five years with financial allocations aims to ensure better access to power, water, and roads in every village.
The approved programs cover a range of initiatives such as the Mukhya Mantri Krushi Udyog Yojana, which supports commercial agriculture and allied sector enterprises by providing capital investment subsidies. Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned funds for the construction of new bridges and completion of ongoing bridge projects across the state. The Setu Bandha Yojana, with an allocation of Rs 11,800 crore, will see the construction of 3,167 bridges, while Rs 600 crore has been earmarked for bridge-cum-weir structures to enhance connectivity and water conservation efforts.
Furthermore, the Cabinet endorsed a new legislation to replace the Odisha Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1956, with a focus on modernizing the state’s agricultural marketing framework. The new law promotes the concept of “One State, One Market,” allowing farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the state without market area restrictions. It also emphasizes electronic trading, integration with digital marketplaces, and increased participation of food processing industries for improved transparency and price discovery.
