Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated three significant projects in Bhubaneswar, including a new Secretariat building called ‘Lokseva Bhawan,’ a modern Odisha Legislative Assembly building, and an elevated road corridor from Nandankanan to Jayadev Vihar. The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity for a contemporary Legislative Assembly building similar to the recently-constructed Parliament building in Delhi.
CM Majhi highlighted the potential increase in the Assembly’s seating capacity by approximately 50 seats following the upcoming delimitation process. The new Assembly aims to accommodate up to 200 legislators initially, with plans for future expansion to cater to around 300 members over the next five decades. The project will be part of an integrated campus, while the current Assembly building will remain operational until the new structure is ready.
In addition to the Legislative Assembly, Odisha will witness the construction of a new Secretariat building, ‘Lokseva Bhawan,’ to replace the outdated and insufficient existing structure. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of upgrading the administrative infrastructure to address safety concerns such as outdated electrical systems and water pipelines, which pose fire hazards. The new Lokseva Bhawan will be a modern administrative complex equipped with advanced technology to meet future needs efficiently and sustainably.
During the ceremony, CM Majhi announced the commencement of a new elevated corridor project from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan, aimed at easing traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar. The Chief Minister acknowledged the heavy traffic burden on the Nandankanan–Jayadev Vihar route and revealed plans for a well-designed elevated road with integrated traffic management solutions. The project, designed to enhance traffic flow and junction management, has received formal approval after the completion of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
