Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 20 industrial projects worth Rs 8,884 crore in the western region of the state. These projects are expected to create 6,832 job opportunities. The inauguration took place during the Silver Jubilee edition of Enterprise Odisha in Rourkela.
During the event, MoUs and investment intents worth Rs 52,026 crore were received, with a potential employment of 20,427. This development is seen as a significant boost to the industrial momentum in the region. Western Odisha has been highlighted as a key contributor to the state’s industrial growth.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that western Odisha is now a vital part of Odisha’s development, not just a frontier for growth. The event witnessed the participation of several leading companies and attracted over 500 attendees. The theme of this year’s Enterprise Odisha edition is ‘Odisha: Best Place to Live, Work and Do Business.’
Referring to the event’s theme, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of economic growth being aligned with an improved quality of life. He emphasized that industrial development should not only create job opportunities but also enhance living standards. The government’s industrial strategy aims to establish anchor industries in each region, fostering the growth of numerous MSMEs around them.
The event marked the inauguration of 11 industrial projects with an investment of Rs 5,708.00 crore, providing employment for 4,183 individuals. Additionally, nine projects worth Rs 3,176.00 crore were initiated, creating jobs for 2,649 people. Chief Minister Majhi also engaged in roundtable discussions with various industry associations, highlighting the collaborative growth prospects in the RRR Corridor.
During the discussions, 22 MoUs worth Rs 43,349 crore were signed, leading to the creation of 18,985 jobs. Furthermore, investment intents totaling Rs 8,677 crore with an employment potential of 1,442 were received. The Chief Minister also facilitated the allocation of land for a proposed aluminium smelter and power plant project in Dhenkanal.
