In a move to enhance digital services for Lord Jagannath devotees globally, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled ‘Samarpan’, a secure digital hundi platform. This platform allows devotees to make online donations to the Shree Jagannath Temple from anywhere in the world. Launched on the eve of the annual Rath Yatra, the platform is a joint effort of the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
This initiative, named ‘Samarpan’, integrates a secure digital platform developed by OCAC with the official SJTA portal. The platform ensures devotees can make donations securely and transparently. CM Majhi emphasized that this Digital Hundi is not just a technological advancement but a sacred link connecting millions of Jagannath devotees worldwide with the temple. He believes this initiative will be a significant milestone in preserving Lord Jagannath’s traditions and developing the temple holistically.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the primary goal of this initiative is to connect devotees worldwide with the Shree Jagannath Temple. Donations received through the platform will be utilized for the temple’s development and maintenance. The system is designed to be user-friendly, transparent, and simple, enabling devotees in India and abroad to contribute to Lord Jagannath from their homes.
Under the guidance of the state government, a dedicated web portal and mobile application have been developed for this initiative. Devotees can log in using their mobile number and a one-time password (OTP) to donate through various payment options like UPI, internet banking, debit/credit cards, and WhatsApp. Upon successful transactions, a digital receipt is generated instantly.
