Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi of Odisha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for presenting handcrafted gifts to King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway during his recent diplomatic tour. The gifts included a silver sailboat model and a Palm Leaf Pattachitra, showcasing India’s cultural heritage. PM Modi’s gesture highlighted Odisha’s artistic legacy and its global recognition.

CM Majhi praised the thoughtful selection of gifts, emphasizing the cultural significance of each piece. The Palm Leaf Pattachitra, rooted in Odisha’s temple traditions, and the silver sailboat crafted in Cuttack Filigree tradition symbolize India’s rich heritage. The inclusion of these iconic art forms in diplomatic exchanges signifies the artisans’ contribution to India’s living heritage.

The Chief Minister highlighted the pride felt by Odisha’s artisans for having their creations showcased on the global stage. The Palm Leaf Pattachitra, a traditional art form linked to the Jagannath Temple, and Cuttack’s silver filigree craft, known as Tarakasi, reflect the state’s cultural richness.
