The Opposition Congress in Odisha has issued a strict three-line whip to its party MLAs, instructing them to stay in Bhubaneswar for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The directive, issued by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Chief Whip, C.S. Raazen Ekka, mandates legislators to be present in the state capital from March 13 to 16 without exception. The voting for the Rajya Sabha elections is set for March 16 at the Odisha Assembly premises from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Amid escalating political tensions, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has also directed its MLAs to be in Bhubaneswar from March 13 to 16 for the Rajya Sabha polls. The order, issued by BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, emphasizes the importance of full attendance during the electoral process. Speculations about horse-trading are circulating ahead of the polls, with a keen eye on potential cross-voting and party allegiances.
The CLP Chief Whip stressed the significance of strict compliance with the three-line whip, indicating the parties’ efforts to solidify their positions during the crucial elections. Both the Congress and BJD are ensuring that their MLAs remain in the headquarters to participate in the voting process. The political landscape in Odisha is intensifying as parties gear up for the Rajya Sabha elections.
