An online IPL betting racket in Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area was dismantled by the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of East District Police. Three individuals engaging in illegal gambling activities during an IPL T-20 match were apprehended. The accused, identified as Manish Jain, Abhishek Jain, and Arpit Gupta, were caught in the act during the Lucknow Super Giants versus Punjab Kings match.
The crackdown was part of a sustained effort against unlawful betting and gambling during IPL matches. Manish Jain, the alleged mastermind, operated the betting setup from his Madhu Vihar residence, with Abhishek Jain and Arpit Gupta aiding him. Acting on specific intelligence, the police raided the premises on May 23 at 6 p.m., where the accused were found with electronic devices and betting records.
During the raid, police seized laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and handwritten betting documents. The accused were using various applications and software to manage betting activities. Investigators revealed that the individuals used multiple devices for communication, accepting bets, and recording transactions. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the broader network and financial transactions related to the online betting syndicate.
