The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha has condemned the state government following the alleged sexual assault of a minor student at a private school in Kendrapara district. Senior BJD leader Tukuni Sahu expressed serious concerns about women’s safety and law enforcement in the region during a press conference at the party headquarters.
Sahu highlighted a worrying trend of crimes against women and minors in recent months, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures. She called for immediate action to enhance the security of women and children, citing a decline in the state’s law-and-order situation.
Demanding a swift and thorough investigation into the incident, Sahu revealed that a BJD fact-finding team had engaged with the victim’s family and law enforcement officials. The team urged authorities to ensure a fair and expeditious probe into the matter to deliver justice.
Authorities have arrested five individuals, including four teachers and a peon, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a Class 7 student at a private English medium school in Rajkanika block, Kendrapara district.
