Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly, V. D. Satheesan, has alleged that two senior IPS officers in the state are intentionally impeding the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the Sabarimala gold theft case. Satheesan claimed that the SIT’s progress has come to a halt due to what he described as active interference by these senior police officials.
According to Satheesan, the investigation’s stagnation is not a result of insufficient evidence or procedural obstacles but rather deliberate actions by the two IPS officers to disrupt the probe. He warned that if the officers do not change their approach, the Opposition will have no choice but to publicly name them.
The Opposition leader criticized the Pinarayi Vijayan government for allegedly protecting influential individuals and failing to ensure an impartial and credible investigation into the gold smuggling and theft associated with Sabarimala offerings. Satheesan emphasized the need for the probe to proceed without any external pressures or manipulations.
Satheesan highlighted the Opposition’s concerns about systemic failures and deliberate efforts to obstruct the investigation, urging the government to allow the SIT to operate independently and transparently. He also stated that the UDF would escalate its efforts if the investigation remains at a standstill.
