Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan heavily criticized the recent Kerala Budget, accusing the government of damaging the state’s fiscal credibility. He claimed that the current administration under the LDF was burdening future governments with financial woes. The budget, presented by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal, focused on social security, healthcare, education, and welfare initiatives.
Satheesan highlighted the severe cash crunch in the state, noting restrictions on withdrawals exceeding Rs 10 lakh in the past five months. He dismissed the government’s promises as empty rhetoric, particularly regarding social security pensions. The Opposition leader criticized the government for failing to address issues such as inflation, employee welfare, and support for rubber farmers.
Referring to the upcoming elections, Satheesan pointed out the government’s lack of financial preparedness for the future. He raised concerns about the budget’s implementation under a potential new government and demanded a thorough audit of the state’s finances. Satheesan emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in managing Kerala’s financial resources.
