Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, criticized the Congress government for failing to address the alleged female foeticide racket in Yadgir and Kalaburagi. He demanded a High Court judge-led investigation into the matter, highlighting the disappearance of thousands of female foetuses in the districts over the past five years.
Ashoka accused Minister Priyank Kharge of neglecting the humanitarian crisis in the districts under his charge. He questioned the government’s inaction regarding the disappearance of 16,116 pregnancies in Yadgir district and alleged the existence of a sex determination and female foeticide racket. Ashoka also criticized Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for allegedly overlooking the issue during his recent visit to the region.
The Opposition Leader urged the Chief Minister to order an inquiry into the alleged female foeticide racket and warned of accountability if no decisive action was taken. He also criticized the government’s ‘e-Swathu 2.0’ initiative, claiming it had caused hardships for property owners instead of protecting their rights. Ashoka called for immediate rectification of the system’s shortcomings and action against responsible officials.
