Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, criticized the Congress government for not fulfilling its promise of providing free insulin to children with Type-1 diabetes. Despite announcing the scheme months ago, the government has yet to implement it, putting the lives of many children at risk.
Ashoka accused the government of prioritizing self-promotion over the well-being of children, as families struggle to afford insulin costing between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 per month. He blamed the delay on negligence by officials and questioned the government’s efficiency in executing the program.
The BJP leader highlighted that over 7,000 children in Karnataka are waiting for free insulin, with economically weaker families being forced to reduce doses due to financial constraints. He criticized the government for failing to ensure adequate insulin supplies at government-run hospitals, leading some to rely on NGOs for support.
Ashoka urged the Chief Minister to expedite the distribution of free insulin, warning that further delays could have severe consequences for vulnerable families. He also raised concerns about the delay in supplying rice for the mid-day meal program, emphasizing the government’s responsibility to provide essential resources for students.
