More than 1.25 crore citizens in Gujarat are set to participate in Yoga Protocol training on ‘International Yoga Day’ this year. The state-level main event will take place at Mansa in Gandhinagar district, as announced by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The celebration, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, anticipates the participation of over 4,000 citizens at the main venue.
Sanghavi highlighted that the 12th International Yoga Day in Gujarat aligns with the service-oriented initiatives marking 12 years of governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” is being promoted through various programs across the state. More than 10 large-scale events have already been conducted, with plans for around 24,000 programs in total across different sectors.
The state is observing a “Yoga Week” from June 14 to 20, featuring 12 special programs catering to diverse sections of society. These programs aim to reach sanitation workers, women, senior citizens, and farmers. Sanghavi emphasized that mass yoga sessions will be held simultaneously on International Yoga Day across all municipal corporations, districts, talukas, municipalities, and rural areas in Gujarat.
Coordination efforts among district collectors, municipal commissioners, and social organizations are underway to ensure the seamless execution of the programs at every level. Sanghavi also mentioned the global demand for trained Indian yoga instructors, attributing it to India’s cultural outreach. The Gujarat Yoga Board is actively providing training and facilities to encourage daily yoga practice among citizens, with a focus on expanding participation in yoga across the state.
