More than 2,900 beneficiaries in Rajkot district have received loan assistance through the Shri Vajpayee Bankable Scheme in the last year, as per the Gujarat government’s update to the state Assembly. Minister of State for Khadi, Cottage, and Rural Industries, Swarupji Thakor, revealed that out of 4,157 applications received in Rajkot district by December 31, 2025, 2,913 applications were approved by banks and beneficiaries were granted loans.
In response to a query in the Assembly, Minister Thakor shared that in Kutch district, 1,919 applications were submitted during the same period, with 1,915 being recommended to banks. Of these, 1,463 applications were sanctioned by banks, providing financial aid to the beneficiaries. Minister Thakor also highlighted recent revisions to the financial limits of the scheme.
The loan limit under the program was previously set at Rs 8 lakh with a subsidy assistance cap of Rs 1.25 lakh. However, following a decision under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s guidance, the loan limit has been raised to Rs 25 lakh, and the subsidy assistance limit on the loan increased to Rs 3.75 lakh. The Shri Vajpayee Bankable Scheme aims to offer financial aid in the form of loans and subsidies to bolster small businesses, industries, and service-sector activities.
