Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that more than 3.5 lakh pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Shrine in the first 15 days since the pilgrimage began on July 3. During his visit to the Nunwan base camp, L-G Sinha reviewed the facilities for the pilgrims, ensuring essential services like water, electricity, accommodation, and healthcare were in place. He emphasized the need for a waste-free pilgrimage and directed officials to maintain cleanliness and safety along the routes and camps.
L-G Sinha instructed all departments to work efficiently to guarantee the well-being of the pilgrims and to ensure a transparent and fair system for all services provided. With heavy rainfall predicted, he urged stakeholders to be prepared and prioritize the safety and convenience of the pilgrims. Stressing on fire safety, he mandated that every tent must have a fire extinguisher for added security.
During interactions with pilgrims, L-G Sinha received positive feedback on the arrangements and facilities provided. He highlighted the economic benefits of the pilgrimage for Jammu and Kashmir and commended the purchase of local products by devotees, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal. The Lieutenant Governor expressed satisfaction with the coordination among various departments and stakeholders, making this year’s pilgrimage a success.
