More than 6.54 lakh young individuals have found jobs in Gujarat in the last five years through extensive recruitment events held statewide. These events, spanning from 2021-22 to 2025-26, saw the participation of over 28,000 private-sector employers in 7,403 recruitment fairs. The state’s Employment and Training Department disclosed that these fairs aimed to streamline the hiring process by facilitating direct interactions between job seekers and companies through immediate interviews.
In the ongoing fiscal year (2025-26) alone, Gujarat hosted 1,333 recruitment fairs, leading to the issuance of appointment letters to over 1,15,774 candidates who were selected by participating firms. The recruitment fair strategy, as per officials, is a collaborative endeavor involving government employment agencies, educational institutions, and private-sector entities to enhance job accessibility based on candidates’ qualifications and industry needs.
Major industrial players, such as Tata Motors, Suzuki Motor Corporation, and Reliance Jio, have actively engaged in these recruitment drives alongside firms like ArcelorMittal and Torrent Pharmaceuticals. Additionally, companies in the renewable energy sector, including Adani Solar, have played a role in substantial hiring activities. The initiative has witnessed the involvement of more than 28,000 employers over the five-year period, showcasing sustained private-sector involvement in the state’s employment assistance efforts.
The Employment Department in Gujarat operates through a network of 46 employment offices that serve as intermediaries between job seekers and employers. These offices evaluate workforce demands from companies and collaborate with educational institutions to identify suitable candidates. Information regarding job vacancies and recruitment events is disseminated through various channels, including institutional outreach and digital platforms, before interviews are conducted at the fairs. The model is structured to enhance the alignment between skills and industry requirements, with final hiring decisions made by participating companies during the fair’s interview rounds.
