More than 60,000 individuals in Gujarat have actively participated in the digital self-enumeration initiative for the forthcoming population census, as confirmed by Chief Secretary M.K. Das. This drive, endorsed by the central government, enables citizens to electronically provide census-related information instead of the conventional door-to-door method. Chief Secretary Das commended the simplicity and transparency of the online self-enumeration portal, emphasizing the positive response received in Gujarat.
The Chief Secretary encouraged government officials and employees throughout the state to engage in the campaign and promote broader public engagement. He expressed optimism that the integration of digital tools would enhance the speed and accuracy of future census activities. Notably, the campaign attracted involvement from prominent political figures in Gujarat, including State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Purnesh Modi and State Women and Child Welfare Minister Manisha Vakil.
State Minister Vakil urged citizens to actively support the nationwide self-enumeration campaign, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation. This digital initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda of digitizing public services and administrative procedures. The self-enumeration process, which began on May 17 and runs until May 31, allows citizens to submit household and family details online through the digital census portal. The census operations in Gujarat are divided into two phases, with the House Listing Operations scheduled from June 1 to 30 and the population enumeration set for February 2027.
