Ahead of the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match on Sunday, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha expressed his desire for the game to be played in the right spirit but did not confirm if there would be a handshake. This follows the Indian men’s team’s decision not to shake hands with Pakistan players during the Men’s Asia Cup in September 2025 and their refusal to accept the trophy from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.
Agha emphasized the importance of playing cricket in the right spirit, stating that the game should be conducted as it has always been. He left the decision regarding handshakes to the players, indicating that their actions will determine the course of the game.
Despite the looming rain threat in Colombo on Sunday, Agha stressed that performance, not external factors like weather or luck, will be the key to victory. He dismissed the significance of the toss, emphasizing that good cricket will ultimately decide the outcome of the match.
Expressing his wish for a competitive match, Agha hoped that India fields their strongest XI, particularly mentioning his desire for the recovery of young opener Abhishek Sharma. Agha expressed his anticipation for a challenging game and highlighted the importance of playing against the best players.
