At least two individuals lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries when the Pakistani military launched 85 artillery shells into Afghanistan’s Kunar province. The Information and Culture Department spokesperson, Zia-ur-Rahman Spinghar, reported that the shelling occurred over a 24-hour period, with 16 shells hitting local areas in Nari district, resulting in one civilian’s death and six injuries. Additionally, Pakistan conducted two drone strikes and fired 47 long-range projectiles in Sarkano district, causing one fatality and two injuries.

Spinghar revealed that two shells struck Manura district, 15 hit Shultan district, and five landed in Asadabad, with no reported casualties. In response, Afghan forces destroyed three Pakistani posts in Sarkano district’s Nawapas area along the Durand Line, resulting in the death of one Pakistani soldier. The Taliban had previously accused Pakistani forces of firing on civilians in Kunar and Paktika provinces, resulting in one death and one injury.

Despite a ceasefire announced by Afghanistan and Pakistan during Eid, the Taliban has accused Pakistani forces of violating the ceasefire by launching attacks in Kunar and Nuristan, leading to civilian casualties.
