Pakistan’s cricket team has faced a setback as their opening duo, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, will miss the upcoming ODI series against Australia due to injuries. The squad for Australia’s tour, commencing on May 30, is yet to be finalized, leaving Pakistan in search of new openers.
Both players, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, are currently undergoing rehabilitation supervised by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical team. The PCB confirmed that the duo’s injuries have led to their exclusion from the ODI series against Australia. The board expressed hopes for a swift recovery and anticipates their return to competitive cricket soon.
Fakhar Zaman, a seasoned player with 92 ODIs under his belt, boasts 3861 runs at an average of 45.42, including 11 centuries and 19 half-centuries. On the other hand, Saim Ayub, with 17 ODIs, has scored 751 runs and taken nine wickets. The Australian tour will kick off on May 30 in Rawalpindi, with subsequent matches scheduled for June 2 and 4 in Lahore.
Pakistan’s recent defeats against Bangladesh in ODIs and Tests will add pressure as they gear up to face Australia in the upcoming series.
