Purnea Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, has urged for a CBI investigation into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant under the oversight of a Supreme Court or High Court judge. Yadav expressed concerns over the Bihar Police and CID’s handling of the case, emphasizing the need for judicial supervision in the probe. He highlighted fears of potential harm to the victim’s family and alleged a criminal conspiracy behind the incident.
Yadav commended Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha for his support to the victim’s family and urged for enhanced security measures. He criticized the government’s approach to women’s safety, stressing the importance of safeguarding women in the state. The NEET aspirant was discovered unconscious in her hostel room on January 6 and later passed away due to her injuries on January 11, sparking demands for a thorough and transparent investigation.
The case, initially handled by the Patna Police, has now been transferred to the CBI amid growing calls for a court-monitored inquiry to ensure accountability and justice. The move comes following conflicting reports on the possibility of sexual assault in the case, with forensic evidence indicating a need for further scrutiny to uncover the truth.
