Passengers at Eastern Railway (ER) can now report instances of littering and spitting on the premises to help authorities take action against offenders. The railway has initiated the third phase of its cleanliness awareness campaign, named “Eastern Railway is Watching You.” Under this scheme, railway staff will closely monitor CCTV footage to identify individuals engaging in such behavior and impose fines or ask them to leave if necessary.
This new phase is part of a stringent zero-tolerance policy against littering and spitting throughout all railway premises. Passengers who witness such actions can capture photos or videos and send them, along with the location details, to 9002022780. Upon receiving this information, railway authorities will pinpoint the offender, levy an on-the-spot fine, and acknowledge the reporting passenger as “Captain Clean” with an official certificate of appreciation from ER.
The campaign emphasizes that Eastern Railway is continuously monitoring its premises to ensure cleanliness. With an extensive network of CCTV cameras and vigilant railway staff, any individual caught littering or spitting will face immediate fines. This initiative aims to engage the public in maintaining cleanliness within railway premises.
ER’s General Manager, Milind Deouskar, highlighted the railway’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience by maintaining clean station environments. Through a digital reporting system empowering passengers to report incidents, a culture of accountability is being nurtured to make cleanliness a daily practice rather than a sporadic choice.
ER’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Shibram Majhi, stressed that cleanliness should be a habit, not an option. He urged passengers to unite as “Captain Clean” and contribute to keeping railway premises clean. This campaign not only enforces regulations but also promotes community-driven cleanliness efforts.
