The Patna High Court has granted bail to Mokama MLA Anant Singh in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case. Justice R.P. Mishra approved the bail after considering arguments from all parties involved. Anant Singh is expected to be released from Beur Jail in Patna in the coming days with the court’s consent.
Anant Singh had been incarcerated following his arrest in a murder case dating back to October 2025, during the Bihar Assembly elections. The victim, Dularchand Yadav, a supporter of the Jan Suraaj Party and former RJD leader, was killed on October 30, 2025, in Basawanchak village while campaigning. Police investigations indicated that he was allegedly hit by an SUV, leading to his demise.
Despite being in custody for about four and a half months, Anant Singh contested and won the Mokama Assembly seat. He recently participated in the Rajya Sabha elections, expressing confidence in his imminent release. Anant Singh has also declared that he will not run in future elections, planning for his eldest son to represent the Mokama constituency for the JD(U).
