Petrol and diesel prices in Rajasthan have surged following a sharp increase by oil companies, effective from Friday night. In Jaipur, petrol is now priced at Rs 107.97 per litre, while Sri Ganganagar has recorded the highest petrol price in the state at Rs 109.46 per litre. Diesel prices have also risen, reaching Rs 94.74 per litre in the district, attributed to the continuous surge in global crude oil prices.
The sudden spike in fuel prices has raised concerns among consumers, transporters, and businesses reliant on fuel. Across various districts in Rajasthan, petrol prices have increased by more than Rs 3 per litre. For instance, in Ajmer, petrol prices rose from Rs 104.36 to Rs 107.61 per litre, and in Kota, rates climbed from Rs 104.26 to Rs 107.51.
Chittorgarh, Udaipur, and Jaipur also witnessed significant increases in petrol prices. Diesel rates have seen a similar upward trend, with prices in different districts of Rajasthan rising by around Rs 3 per litre. Experts warn that if tensions in West Asia persist, further fuel price hikes may be expected in the near future.
Petrol and diesel prices had remained stable across the country since March 2024, with the government reducing fuel prices by Rs 2 per litre before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the Rajasthan Petrol and Diesel Dealers Association has raised concerns over alleged pressure from petroleum companies to limit fuel supplies. The Association claims that dealers are being instructed to provide fuel in restricted quantities to consumers, leading to objections within the industry.
