Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, calling him a “failed LoP” and accusing the Congress of being “directionless” under his leadership. Goyal also condemned the Congress-led Opposition for disrupting the House proceedings following a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Questioning the Opposition’s behavior, Goyal highlighted their demand for a discussion on the West Asia conflict despite a scheduled debate on the no-confidence motion against the Speaker. He expressed disappointment in the Congress’s avoidance of debates and lack of respect for parliamentary procedures and constitutional norms.
Goyal further alleged that since Rahul Gandhi assumed the role of LoP, the functioning of Parliament has been consistently disrupted due to what he described as deliberate tactics by the Congress. He criticized Gandhi for bringing disruptions, wasting time on irrelevant topics, and creating chaos in Parliament.
The Union Minister also accused the Congress of lacking understanding of parliamentary procedures and disrespecting constitutional norms. He claimed that the Congress party, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, has failed to uphold the principles of parliamentary democracy, leading to frequent disruptions and chaos in the House.
BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad joined in the criticism, accusing the Congress of undermining parliamentary norms and turning the proceedings into a spectacle. He expressed readiness for a debate but criticized the Congress for avoiding discussions and leaving Parliament, emphasizing the party’s disregard for constitutional values and parliamentary traditions.
