Union Minister Piyush Goyal pledged to bring back the governance style associated with former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu. Criticizing Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s administration, Goyal highlighted the need for change and improved governance in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Tiruchirappalli, Goyal, who also serves as the election in-charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu, emphasized that the public was disenchanted with the alleged corruption within the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government. He accused the current administration of failing to address crucial governance issues and fostering divisive politics.
Goyal further criticized Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, questioning his leadership’s acceptance even within the DMK. He expressed the people’s desire for the National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level and by Edappadi K. Palaniswami in the state, to take charge.
Asserting confidence in the NDA’s ability to form the government in Tamil Nadu under Palaniswami’s leadership, Goyal stated that voters were turning towards the alliance as a promising alternative for stable and development-focused governance. He underlined Prime Minister Modi’s respect for Tamil culture and heritage, highlighting the commitment to elevate Tamil Nadu into one of the top-performing states in the country through development projects and enhanced Centre-State collaboration.
Goyal also outlined the NDA government’s plans to address issues such as irregularities in the TASMAC liquor retail system, illegal sand mining, and law and order concerns if elected in the state. Referring to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa as “Amma,” he promised to revive the governance model associated with her tenure. Goyal expressed optimism that the NDA would garner electoral support in the upcoming Assembly elections, leading to the collapse of the DMK’s aspirations.
