Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recently engaged in discussions on various global matters, with a particular focus on the ongoing situation in Iran, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). PM Modi expressed deep concerns regarding the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region during the meeting, emphasizing the importance of avoiding escalation and promoting dialogue and diplomacy to ease tensions.
Secretary (East) in MEA, P Kumaran, highlighted PM Modi’s stance on the issue, stating that India is closely monitoring the situation and has urged all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize civilian safety. Emphasizing the significance of dialogue and diplomacy in de-escalating tensions, PM Modi stressed the need for peaceful resolutions to underlying issues.
During a joint press conference with PM Carney, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to peace and stability globally. He underscored the importance of democratic nations standing together to advocate for peace, especially in times of heightened tensions. PM Modi also expressed India’s support for resolving disputes through peaceful means and reiterated the country’s dedication to ensuring the safety of its nationals in the region.
The escalating conflict in West Asia, triggered by recent US-Israel strikes on Iran, has raised concerns internationally. The situation intensified following retaliatory actions by Iran, resulting in heightened military activities in the region. Amid these developments, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s stance on promoting peace and dialogue to address conflicts and safeguard the well-being of Indian nationals in the Gulf region.
