Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to visit the state later this month, pending official confirmation. The Chief Minister stated that invitations have been extended for specific dates in January, with PM Modi invited on January 17 and 18, and HM Shah on January 29. These visits, if finalized, would signify significant Central involvement with Assam in a short timeframe.
Both PM Modi and HM Shah hold crucial roles in defining political and developmental agendas in the northeastern region. Their visits are anticipated to emphasize key infrastructure and governance projects. This announcement follows a series of high-profile visits in December, including PM Modi’s inauguration of a major fertiliser plant in Dibrugarh district and HM Shah’s opening of a cultural complex in Guwahati.
The proposed visits by PM Modi and HM Shah are expected to bolster developmental initiatives in Assam and neighboring states. The state government will provide further details once the schedules are officially confirmed.
