Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico engaged in detailed discussions on bilateral cooperation during their meeting in Bratislava. Fico warmly welcomed PM Modi, and the two leaders exchanged greetings. PM Modi, who arrived in Bratislava for a two-day State Visit, expressed the importance of strengthening ties between India and Slovakia and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
PM Modi’s visit marks the first-ever by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. The visit aims to reinforce India’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Slovakia across various sectors, including trade, investment, and automobile and railway manufacturing. PM Modi also expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received in Bratislava, particularly from the Indian community, emphasizing the strong bonds between the two nations.
During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold discussions with President Peter Pellegrini and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico. The visit follows President Droupadi Murmu’s State Visit to Slovakia in April 2025 and President Pellegrini’s participation in the AI Impact Summit in India in February.
