Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a significant meeting with Secretaries from all Central government ministries and departments at the Seva Teerth to discuss the reform agenda, emphasizing administrative and economic reforms for the future. This meeting, a rare full-Secretary-level engagement with the PM in the current fiscal year, aimed to align bureaucratic efforts with key policy priorities for the latter half of 2026.
The meeting, which included the Cabinet Secretary and the two Principal Secretaries to the PM, P.K. Mishra and Shaktikanta Das, focused on two main themes. The first theme centered on “deregulation and other reforms” to simplify business operations and enhance the quality of life for citizens. The second theme highlighted the promotion of “Aatmanirbharta” or self-reliance in India.
During the session, Secretaries updated the Prime Minister on the significant measures undertaken by their Ministries and Departments in line with the two core themes, aiming to translate the PM’s vision into tangible outcomes. They also discussed sector-specific challenges and outlined strategies to improve governance and service delivery in the future.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi stressed the importance of teamwork and a holistic government approach to overcome departmental barriers. He emphasized integrated planning, decision-making, and coordination, urging the extensive use of PM GatiShakti as a valuable platform for these purposes. Additionally, PM Modi urged the Secretaries to focus on achieving concrete results and ensuring that government schemes have a visible impact on the lives of the general public.
