Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed birthday wishes to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, acknowledging his efforts in advancing the state’s development in various sectors. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath also extended their greetings to CM Sawant, emphasizing his leadership in Goa’s progress.
CM Sawant, born in 1973 to Pandurang and Padmini Sawant, holds a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery (BAMS) from Kolhapur and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Pune. He is affiliated with the Maratha community and is married to Sulakshana, an active member of the BJP serving as the President of the Goa unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
Beginning his political career in 2008, CM Sawant contested and won the Sanquelim constituency in the 2012 Assembly elections. He later assumed the role of Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly and subsequently became the Chief Minister of Goa in 2019 after Manohar Parrikar’s demise, securing a second term in 2022.
